Samurai Shiatsu for kids

SAMURAI SHIATSU FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN

What is Samurai Shiatsu ?

Samurai Shiatsu is a, fun , easy and effective programme for school children between the ages 6-12 , that empowers children with simple shiatsu techniques and exercises to promote mental and physical wellbeing.

The Samurai Shiatsu programme is already being implemented in primary schools, with great results in Germany , Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and the USA. Samurai Shiatsu was developed by Karin Kalbantner-Wernicke. I am one of the first people to qualify as a Samurai Shiatsu teacher in the UK , having completed the training with Karin Kalbantner-Wernicke . I am very excited to be able to offer this amazing programme to UK schools.

During Covid-19, I am developing a way to be able to offer the Samurai Shiatsu programme as an online course.

The Samurai shiatsu programme is delivered to the class in 3 weekly sessions, lasting up to 45 minutes.  The pupils work  individually and in pairs, at their desks, so little furniture needs to be moved.  During each session, pupils and teachers learn how to do simple Shiatsu massage techniques on each other.  Practices are applied to the head, neck, arms, shoulders and back.  There are also games and exercises to promote physical and mental health and well-being.

The characters Kooko and Hanako are used to engage children in learning Shiatsu massage techniques.

The Samurai Shiatsu programme is structured and designed so the children can practice independently and effectively together, following the three practice sessions.  It is also versatile enough to be implemented in a range of settings, such as schools, after school clubs, youth groups, sports groups and centres.
